Jessica Fanzo, Professor of Climate

Jessica Fanzo

Jessica Fanzo, Professor of Climate, is a leader in the transdisciplinary field of food systems; she studies the linkages between agriculture, health, and the environment, and the ethics and governance of food policy in resource-constrained contexts.

Her contributions extend from nutritional sciences into the areas of policy and public service. She has been a member of high-level task forces for USAID, G20, and the Rockefeller Foundation, and was the Team Leader for a report on food systems and nutrition for the UN Committee on Food Security. She currently serves as the lead PI for the building of a “Food Systems Dashboard,” an open-access platform that provides information to inform policies on food choice and the environment.

Fanzo earned her PhD at the University of Arizona and was on the Columbia faculty from 2013-2015 before holding appointments at Johns Hopkins, returning to the Columbia faculty in 2023 with tenure.
