Resources for Education Deans at Columbia University
Since December 2014, the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Programs (OVPAP) has been convened meetings of the Education Deans across Columbia University, 2-3 times each semester. The purpose of these meetings is to enhance our work by offering an opportunity for the education deans across the 17 schools to discuss a variety of topics including areas of overlap in our roles, process and quality of external reporting, new collaborative initiatives, educational policies and programs, and the challenges we face in general.
For newly on-board education deans, this Orientation Guide contains useful information for accessing Columbia’s systems for proposing new programs or making changes to existing programs, seeking approvals for academic agreements with other institutions, establishing new centers or institutes, and other matters relevant to academic programs. Department chairs and program directors engaged in such efforts also will fine this guide useful.
