Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs

The Division of Academic Appointments of the Office of Faculty Affairs approves appointments and salaries of academic officers and administers the policies relating to them.

Our goal is to assist faculty, departments, schools, committees and the University and make the tenure process as seamless and efficient as possible.

The University provides full-time academic personnel with the support needed to navigate the retirement process.
Voluntary Retirement Program

The University offers a variety of leave options for Officers of Instruction and Officers of Research for academic enrichment and personal/family reasons.

Our goal is to help schools, departments, and centers determine whether an academic visitor should receive a visiting appointment or be designated as a scholar, student intern, or short-term visitor.

We support University leadership by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting academic personnel data to inform policy decisions and provide insight into trends affecting the academic community.

New Designated Academic Colleague (DAC) status to support scholarly engagement between Columbia personnel and their non-Columbia colleagues in the field.
 

Non-Columbia students conducting PI-supervised research at Columbia are now classified as Visiting Student Interns.
