To recognize Columbia President Lee Bollinger's tenure, a new event series will feature work that leverages scholarly knowledge to impact society.

June 29, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a request for proposals for the Bollinger Convenings at the Forum, a new endowed event series created and funded by the university’s 17 schools and the Office of the Provost. Designed to honor Lee C. Bollinger’s transformational tenure as President, events will showcase initiatives that leverage scholarly knowledge to benefit society, which President Bollinger identified as Columbia University’s Fourth Purpose.

Full-time faculty and officers of research are invited to submit proposals for events, starting in spring 2024, to take place at the Forum, a unique gathering space and a gateway for the community to our Manhattanville Campus. Proposals must be led by a set of principal investigators from multiple schools.

Selected proposals will be supported with a 1:1 cost match for the event, with awards ranging from $10,000 to $25,000. You can find further details, including the proposal guidelines and submission portal, online.  Questions can be directed to f[email protected].

Applications will be accepted through October 13, 2023.

We look forward to your proposals, and to the events that will showcase Columbia’s breadth of initiatives that translate scholarship into action for the common good.

Sincerely,

Mary C. Boyce
