Event Recap | Launch and Celebration: Provost Mentor Programs for Faculty Success and Leadership

Faculty mentors and mentees in the inaugural cohorts of the MAPS and LIFT programs joined Provost Angela V. Olinto and the Faculty Advancement team at Maison Française to celebrate the official launch of these new faculty mentorship initiatives. The event offered participants an early opportunity to build connections, learn about program goals and supports, and begin forming the relationships that will support faculty development and leadership across Columbia.

About the Event

Faculty mentors and mentees in the inaugural cohorts of the new Mentorship for Academic Progress and Success (MAPS) program and Leadership Initiative for Faculty Training and Mentorship (LIFT) joined Provost Angela V. Olinto, Rutherfurd Professor of Astronomy and Professor of Physics, and the Faculty Advancement team at Maison Française to celebrate the official launch of these new faculty mentorship programs.

Though meetings and programming for these programs will begin in fall 2026, this event was a wonderful opportunity for participating faculty to meet each other and build the connections that are foundational to these programs and to faculty development, community-building, and success more broadly.

During the event, faculty mentors and mentees learned more about program goals and supports, considered a broad, development-centered approach to network-building, and made meaningful connections with faculty from across the Columbia campus.
