Event Recap: Demystifying the Tenure Process

Workshop held October 20, 2026
Organized by the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement

What is involved in tenure review, and how can faculty best prepare for the process?

October 21, 2026

On October 20th, faculty from across Columbia joined Eugenia Lean, Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, to learn about TRAC (Tenure Review Advisory Committee) and the tenure review process. Faculty attendees also considered practical guidance on activities like CV preparation and how to cultivate a list of possible future referees.

To learn more about the session, see the slides here. Faculty are also invited to reach out to the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs with any questions.

This session was part of a new series, Becoming Columbia Faculty, which aims to orient new and continuing Columbia faculty to central resources and create ongoing opportunities to connect with peers from across the institution.
