Dear fellow members of the Columbia community:
I am pleased to share with you a set of funding opportunities for faculty available through the Alliance Program and an update on the Alliance leadership. Created in 2002, Alliance is an innovative academic joint venture between Columbia University and three major French institutions: École Polytechnique, Sciences Po, and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. The Alliance facilitates research and collaborations across all disciplines in the sciences, humanities and social sciences.
Alliance applications for the following faculty fellowship and grant opportunities for this year have been extended. The application deadline for all three is Friday, July 21, 2017. Information on each of these programs can be found at the Alliance website.
In May, I announced to those that work closely with the Alliance that Alessia Lefébure, Director of the Alliance since 2011, is stepping down effective June 30th. She will return to Europe to join the French School of Public Health (École des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique-EHESP) as Dean for Academic Affairs. Columbia University has benefitted greatly from Alessia’s thoughtful and collaborative leadership.
A search for the new Alliance director is nearing completion, and I hope to announce the appointment of a new director in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please continue to reach out to the staff at [email protected] with any inquiries.
John H. Coatsworth
