September 12, 2024

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement (OVPFA) published its 2023-2024 Year In Review, sharing initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive excellence across the university. Through strategic collaborations, faculty professional development, and community building programs, OVPFA continued to advance inclusion and belonging to support scholars at every stage of their careers, including hosting or supporting nearly 30 events such as pre-collegiate summer pathway programs, scholarly panels, and professional networking opportunities.

The report has four sections: Dialogue Across Difference (DxD); Nurturing Inclusive Excellence: Connecting and Supporting Scholars at Every Stage; Developing, Rewarding and Celebrating Faculty; and Leading Across the Academy.

Notable programs included the Columbia University Pathways Program (CUPP) summer events; faculty workshops on navigating difficult conversations and equity-centered academic searches; and a panel with alumni from Columbia and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) highlighting career trajectories and the pivotal role of mentorship and networking, among other exciting efforts. Read more about OVPFA's work here.

OVPFA deeply appreciates its numerous partners across the University who partner with us to welcome, develop, support, and celebrate both current and aspiring faculty.
