Bio
Adelina researches a sustainable, low-cost technology to remove toxic heavy metal(loids), including arsenic and uranium, from drinking water and from the environment. Using analytical tools like synchrotron radiation and mass spectrometry, Adelina not only measures the chemical changes to contaminated water and sediment, but also characterizes the biogeochemical mechanisms that underpin the remediation technology. Adelina received a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Princeton University in 2022. Minoring in environmental sciences, they also completed a senior thesis research project in the Princeton Geosciences department. Adelina's research interests are motivated by their passion for social justice and public health. Outside of research, Adelina looks forward to educating the next generation of scientists. As a first-generation college student, Adelina cares deeply about equitable access to higher education. In their free time, Adelina enjoys picking up new skills and crafts, such as woodworking and fashion design.
