Mentoring can have positive, lasting personal and professional benefits for both mentor and mentee, and funding agencies are increasingly encouraging evidence-based approaches to mentor training. But what does effective mentoring look like in practice? Where might you start? How might you fine tune your approach? This session will introduce practical strategies, tools, and resources to support your mentoring, wherever you are in your development as a mentor. We’ll take a closer look at one particularly useful tool, the mentoring plan, and explore resources available to help you continue building your mentoring practice. Whether you’re new to mentoring, navigating a challenge, or looking to build on an approach that’s already working, you’ll leave with ideas and resources you can put to use right away. This session is designed and facilitated by Caitlin DeClercq, PhD, a CIMER-trained facilitator and Director of Faculty Advancement Initiatives in the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement.
