As part of the Perspectives on Peace series, please join us for a book talk on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM. The event will include a discussion with Dr. Michele Gelfand in conversation with Dr. Peter Coleman, on her most recent book "Rule Makers, Rule Breakers: How Tight and Loose Cultures Wire Our World." Book signing and wine and cheese reception to follow. In Rule Makers, Rule Breakers celebrated cultural psychologist Michele Gelfand takes us on an epic journey through human cultures, offering a startling new view of the world and ourselves. With a mix of brilliantly conceived studies and surprising on-the-ground discoveries, she shows that much of the diversity in the way we think and act derives from a key difference—how tightly or loosely we adhere to social norms. The Perspectives on Peace series is co-hosted by Columbia University’s Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict, and Complexity at the Earth Institute with support from partners at the Columbia University Master’s Program in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at the School of Professional Studies, and the Morton Deutsch International Center on Cooperation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia’s Teachers College.
