New Faculty Orientation to Teaching

August 27, 2019
11:30 AM - 5:30 PM
America/New_York
Faculty House, 64 Morningside Dr., New York, NY 10027
The Columbia University Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) welcomes new faculty to an orientation that offers practical, evidence-based strategies they can implement on the first day of class, and introduces them to the Columbia teaching culture. During the opening panel, participants will have an opportunity to hear from colleagues about what they wish they had known on the first day. They will also hear Columbia students share their most memorable and engaging learning experiences. CTL facilitators will lead sessions on high-impact strategies for the first week of class and beyond. At the end of the day, participants are invited to gather with their colleagues for wine, cheese, and opportunities to network with other faculty members. This orientation is open to all faculty. The sessions are especially useful for new and junior faculty and faculty starting a new teaching role. Food and refreshments will be provided. Columbia University makes every effort to accommodate individuals with disabilities. Contact [email protected] or 212.854.1692 for accommodations. This event may be photographed.
