How can we create space for meaningful dialogue about challenging topics, on which members of the Columbia community hold sharply polarized opinions and feelings. In this faculty development session, Gil Eyal (Director and Professor of Sociology) and Cristian Capotescu (Associate Research Scholar and Associate Director) of the Trust Collaboratory, will share their experience designing and hosting the Listening Tables, a program that seeks to foster dialogue and mutual understanding on campus. They will share what has worked and what didn’t, discuss lessons learned, and invite participants to reflect on how this model might serve as an example for promoting a more dynamic and supportive learning experience in the classroom and beyond.
