Vivian Taylor on giving others a chance to succeed
My dad went to second grade but he was able to get this job at Bethlehem Steel to support our family and my mother went to seventh grade, so I didn't have any idea about college or what college was. But this English teacher, Mrs. Qualls, did. And in the 12th grade she helped me to apply to one college: the University of Pittsburgh where her daughter was in a PhD program.

And she helped me to get a scholarship and that early experience instilled in me what I needed to do then for others because I wanted to give others like me the chance to to succeed to go to a college and and to have a better life.
