Bio
Robert Louis Brandon Edwards is an artist, historian, and preservationist who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architectural and Historical Studies from the State University of New York and a Master of Architectural History with a Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Virginia. He is currently a PhD student in Historic Preservation at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University in the City of New York and a Scholar-in-Residence at Voices Underground. His work focuses on the preservation of stories and objects associated with the Black experience, Black agency and Black mobility. Inspired by cars, film, music, and fashion, Robert’s research methodologies move beyond the barriers of traditional archives and the built environment. His current work looks at the Greyhound bus and its use during the different waves of Black migration.
