Bio
Prani Nalluri (they/them) is a first-year PhD student in Applied Mathematics. Their research involves developing machine learning-based methods to account for small-scale processes in oceanographic models. This is important because these small-scale processes are often too small for ocean models to resolve, but do have an important effect on the large-scale phenomena in the model. Prior to beginning their career at Columbia, Prani graduated with a degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Rice University. Outside academics, their interests include hiking, sewing, and jewelry-making.
