Bio
Lisa Del Sol is a 2023 graduate from Columbia’s English and Comparative Literature Department where she received her PhD, successfully defending her dissertation titled “Can I Get A Witness—Living While Black Death is Trending.” Her dissertation is an investigation into the relationship between anti-Black violence as Americana, witnessing, and the impact of creative interpretations of generational trauma in contemporary films and music. She currently works in Columbia’s Department of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, where she manages Columbia’s prestigious academic scholar groups such as Laidlaw, Rabi, and the Humanities Research Scholars. She is also an MMUF scholar that is currently an academic advisor for Columbia’s Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship. Lisa also provides academic support to Columbia’s ambitious undergraduate student body with their applications to funded internal and external competitive fellowships, scholarships and internships year round.
