Bio
Kevin Fleshman is currently a PhD student in the Chemistry Department. Prior to enrolling at Columbia, he received his BA in Chemistry and Africana Studies from Bowdoin College. His research pursuits in undergrad were focused on studying and optimizing the photocatalytic degradation of synthetic estrogens that enter our environment and consequently wreak havoc on aquatic life. Since coming to Columbia, his interests have shifted from analytical chemistry to solid-state chemistry. Kevin is now focused on synthesizing and studying novel quantum materials that may hopefully help to power future optoelectronic technology. When not in lab or classes, he likes to write poetry, explore new parks, go on runs at sunset, and try new foods across the city.
