Please join us for a live panel discussion! In this session, panelists will discuss some of the opportunities and challenges associated with the use of AI in higher education. From teaching, writing, and research to critical AI literacy and ethical considerations, there are many issues to explore. After panelists present their opening remarks, we will invite our audience members to share their questions, comments, and ideas.
Panel:
Julia Staffel is an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her research area is epistemology, especially philosophy of probability and theories of reasoning and rationality. Her book "Unsettled Thoughts: A Theory of Degrees of Rationality" was published by Oxford University Press in 2019. She is also the teaching mentor for the graduate program in philosophy at CU Boulder and has published about how to teach logic and probability theory to students in the humanities.
Lauren M. E. Goodlad is Distinguished Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Rutgers as well as chair of the Critical AI @ Rutgers initiative and editor-in-chief of Critical AI published by Duke University Press. Her work in the AI domain has been supported by grants from Rutgers Global, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and a Mellon-CHCI award for a global humanities institute.
Raymond Pun (he/him) is the academic and research librarian at the Alder Graduate School of Education, a teacher residency program in California, where he supports library services by engaging with residents and teacher educators. With over 17 years of experience in the library field, Ray has previously worked at Stanford University, Fresno State, New York University Shanghai, and The New York Public Library in various roles. Ray holds a Doctorate in Education from Fresno State, a Master of Library Science from the City University of New York - Queens College, a Master of Arts in East Asian Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from St. John's University.
