The Writing Center Antiracist Action Project seeks to close the gap between antiracism theory and its actual practice in writing centers, starting with the Columbia University Writing Center and then expanding out to writing centers across the country. The project was carried out by members of the Writing Center staff who developed a four-module curriculum that centers the voices of people of color through video interviews and written narratives, offers a critical framework drawn from antiracist research in writing studies, guides participants through the development of an antiracist action plan, and hews closely to the everyday realities of consultants’ work with writers.
This project was funded through the Addressing Racism: A Call to Action for Higher Education initiative of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement.
