Unsung Stories: Women at Columbia’s Computer Music Center (CMC) was a three-pronged event—a symposium, concert, and a podcast series—that focused on the history of female composers at the CMC, several of whom are BIPOC, who have undertaken significant creative work in electronic and computer music. The work of these women has been largely overshadowed by that of the men who established and ran the CMC, a situation that we began to rectify with discussion that will addresses structural inequity in Center’s founding and bias and discrimination that affected the women at the Center.
