Faculty Grants Awarded for Online and Hybrid Learning

Dear fellow members of the Columbia community:

I am pleased to announce the awardees for two grant programs to support faculty who are developing innovative and technology-rich pedagogy and learning strategies inside the classroom and beyond its walls.  The awards for Hybrid Learning Course Redesign and Delivery and for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) will help us assess the effectiveness of new approaches and tools for teaching, and transmit insights about strategies that improve learning outcomes for Columbia students from all disciplines. 

After careful review by a committee of senior faculty, eighteen Hybrid Learning Course Redesign and Delivery proposals and seven MOOC proposals will receive support. The awardees and their courses are listed below.  

This year’s projects were chosen based on their potential to enhance teaching and learning at Columbia, and showcase the University's outstanding faculty and curriculum to a global audience.  

With such a high level of interest in this program from our faculty and departments, we plan to offer an additional request for proposals during the coming academic year.  Information on Columbia’s online efforts and resources, along with courses receiving previous support, can be found at the Columbia Online portal.
