Together, Narrative Medicine and Negotiation/Conflict Resolution explored and expanded methods of promoting reciprocal engagement in what are typically difficult conversations, and those that might lead to conflict because they are sensitive in nature regarding race, power, privilege, oppression, and discrimination. Narrative Medicine offers a pathway to those conversations in a facilitated, non-threatening mode mediated by a creative text, discussion and reflective writing. Negotiation and Conflict Resolution augments those conversations with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies for potential personal and systemic application and integration.

This project was funded through the Addressing Racism: A Call to Action for Higher Education initiative of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement.
