The overall goal of this project is to address racial bias among practicing neurologists in our medical center. The primary aim is to develop a curriculum to be taught to established physicians and trainees within the neurology department to identify and analyze the effects of implicit racial bias and structural racism in real-life clinical scenarios. The researchers employed evidenced-based strategies and skills among medical trainees and practicing neurologists, to recognize and mitigate unconscious racial attitudes and stereotypes that negatively influence the course and outcomes of patient encounters.
This project was funded through the Addressing Racism: A Call to Action for Higher Education initiative of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement.
