Guide to Equity-Based Graduate Admissions
The Guide to Equity-Based Graduate Admissions was developed under the direction of the Equity in Graduate Admissions Working Group composed of admissions officers, diversity officers, and student affairs staff across the University who share many combined years of institutional knowledge and experience. This resource provides a foundation for developing, maintaining, and building on admissions practices that help recruit and yield students. It includes pragmatic, easy-to-implement strategies for addressing inequities in graduate education. This guide is one of the first projects of the new Inclusive Faculty Pathways (IFP) initiatives that launched summer of 2021.
This resource is ideal for admissions offices, directors of graduate studies, and any students, faculty, or administrators looking to enact positive change in their graduate admissions process.
On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement hosted They Said ‘Yes’: Supporting underrepresented students to belong and thrive in the academy, a conversation featuring experts in graduate student services and support highlighting the Guide to Equity-Based Graduate Admissions.
This is the third edition of the guide, released October 2023.
