SCHOLARTalks

SCHOLARTalks, an inaugural lightning talks program, highlighted emerging faculty and scholar voices in research across all disciplines at Columbia University. 

SCHOLARTalks was held on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 4:00pm-6:00pm in Butler Library, Room 523. Presenters delivered a 4-5 minute talk about their research with the objectives of engaging an interdisciplinary audience and receiving brief and stimulating feedback on their research.

The Spring 2023 submission deadline has passed. 

Eligibility Requirements
  • Full-time faculty member, doctoral student, or postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University.
  • Contribute to the diversity goals of the university through their research, mentoring, community engagement, and/or member of an historically underrepresented group in their academic field.
  • Available to present their lightning talk on Monday, April 17 between 4:00-6:00pm.
  • By Monday, April 10, must submit a visual aid (e.g., PowerPoint slides) to accompany their presentation.
Event Format
  • Individual or group presentations (4-5 minutes per presentation) followed by group Q&A sessions.
Proposal Submission
  • The entire proposal must be submitted via the online submission form.
  • The submission deadline is Monday, February 27, 2023. Notifications will be made by Thursday, March 9, 2023.
